Hi Hyn Patty, I have not used Banrot & I don't tend to use chemicals of any kind on my plants as I've always been worried about adverse reactions in Adeniums & the possibility of sun damage being our plants are outside all year round.

From what I've read of 'Banrot' use in Australia - it is really only recommended for use in commercial nurseries. It is also recommended to wear full clothing, gloves and respirator during its use in an enclosed greenhouse. Further warnings include any drainage of product into creeks, waterways, dams etc. I believe it is toxic to fish as well.

Our government regulators are really strict on what we can use privately at home because of the damage that can be done to our waterways, fish environments, incorrect usage & environmental issues.

That being said, from what I've read Banrot is supposed to be an excellent product at eliminating rot/fungal issues & is used by some of our commercial nurseries under strict guidelines. Your country may not have the issues that our country does with most excess fertilisers, garden chemicals etc eventually ending up in our waterways.

Maybe you have a agricultural agency available to get more information from. There may also be a difference in the product available to you and what is available to us here in Australia. Just something to consider. :)

I'm well aware of all of that, thank you. I run an inspected and licensed plant business. I'm not a fan of harsh chemical treatments either but I am looking into various fungicidal treatments and want more information on what can be used with adeniums. There are a lot of options from copper, to sulfur, and along list of chemicals. We however get a lot of hurricane and tropical weather combined with intense heat and rot is definitely a concern in the Deep South. Especially this year with as much rain as we have been getting dumped on us.

Hi Hyn, the product sold here in Australia is 'Banrot 400WP' manufactured by 'Scotts'. It is also a category 2 carcinogen (suspected of causing cancer)

I am glad you have experience with similar products and I'm sure you would be very careful with its use. I just thought I'd mention some of the dangers as I think it's important that we all know. I hope you find something that helps protect your plants from rot during wild weather. Good luck with your plants and I hope you get more sunshine soon. :)

I might try a product made by Bayer that is a systematic. It can be sprayed on, isn't nearly so toxic nor expensive. I'm told it's good to use on adeniums. Still looking into options.

I didn't get much feedback on this post but I'm currently looking at Copper Sulphate as a granule but it also comes in liquid forms. It is an anti-fungal that is also anti-bacterial, and is also good against snails, slugs, and algae. It is relatively non-toxic to us and reasonably safe to use in the home (though I'd be using it outdoors). It is however toxic to fish in high doses but is used in low doses in aquariums for an anti-parasitic.

Dissolved in water copper sulfate can be used as a spray on leaves and is used heavily for growing roses, grapes, and fruit trees as an anti-fungal, or can be applied as a soil drench, or used as a granule in a soil mix. One dose lasts about a month.

It took me a little time to cross reference it. I have found it not recommended to use with cacti (though that source did not say why). But now I've found multiple websites listing it as safe and effective for adeniums as an anti-fungal and for dealing with copper deficiencies.
