I believe this is Clematis Asao.

Thanks, aluvaboy, very much, but I looked up Asao online and it's much lighter than mine in the pics that I saw. I just went out and counted the petals on mine and one large bloom has 13 of them.

I came back in and started looking again, comparing the much better color representation in my phone pic than on my monitor, and it looked very much like Clematis ‘Kakio’ PINK CHAMPAGNE. The color below from an online site is MUCH better than in my pic above, and is just what I see 'in person'. I still don't know if this it it, but we're getting closer!

Pink Champagne (Kakio) and Asao are nearly identical in person -- and they are closely related varieties (IIRC they came from the same cross, in fact).

Asao tends to be a very early bloomer for me. So combining your early bloom with your photo, I'll second aluvaboy's opinion that you've probably got Asao.

I find that clematis are particularly difficult to photograph with good color accuracy. Depending on light levels, bloom age and fading, camera, and individual screen color balance, the same plant can photograph very differently. I try to look at other things such as foliage, petal size and shape, gappiness or petal overlap, size, shape and color of the center rather than mainly color. I don't know if any of that applies for yours since I haven't seen the two together

If it's any help, I (or perhaps the voles) have killed Kaiko twice, but Asao is thriving for me and is currently in bloom.
