Kohler Courage advice.

Purchased a short block, during installation found a crack in what Kohler calls a "heat deflector" for the carb, plus the gasket blocks half the intake. The cracked part just holds the carb in place. My question is should I repair/glue the crack, and cut the gasket, or just order a new part.
