Intrigue is sporting

This is not the greatest picture as it was taken with my phone at dusk, and after the rose bushes were beaten up today by 90 degree heat.

I have probably had this Intrigue rose in my garden a dozen years or so. Maybe as many as 20 years. About 3-years ago it started sporting this pink flower on one branch, and it consistently has done so ever since. The flower form is identical to the purple flowers on this bush. Sorry for the quality of the photo; just thought it would be interesting to share, no matter the photographer's malaise.

That is interesting! Is it common with this rose and have they sold it or is this rare?

I don't know if it is common for Intrigue to sport.

The only other rose bush in my garden that sported is Winchester Cathedral, which is itself a sport of Mary Rose, but not a very stable sport. My Winchester Cathedral has sported back to become about one-third Mary Rose.

Interesting. Since Intrigue is White Masterpiece X Heirloom wouldn't your pink be considered a true sport? Are you going to root a piece? Thanks for sharing this.

I am not good at rooting. I might try. This pink looks a lot like Queen Elizabeth in color and form, and QE is about 3 feet away. But it clearly is growing off the Intrigue bush, and does not grow as tall as QE. I might try to root it this summer to see what happens.
