I love the relaxed scrunched look of this pleat

My mother-in-law is making me some panels and I'm trying to explain to her how I want them...can you tell me how you made this pleat look so relaxed and scronched?

Thank you so much for your interest. The simplest looks, which give the most opulent results, often are the most complicated. I am fortunate to have professional seamstresses that sew my treatments. While it might be hard to give you the exact instructions in a short space, I can highlight the important things to consider. These are 100% silk, you need 2 widths of fabric with lining to achieve this fullness, but the pleats themselves do not have interfacing or crinoline so they are loose and not stiff - all of these factors add to the richness of the overall effect. The scrunching and pleats is achieved by tacking the pleats very tight, close together, but then leaving wide spaces between each grouping of pleats. It would worth the effort to start with a mock up before sewing the final product. I don't know where you live but our local technical college offers sewing classes where your assignment can be your actual window and you get hands on advice while sewing. You might want to search for extension classes offered in your area. Post a picture of your room when it is completed, I'd love to see it.

Thank You soooo much, that was very helpful!! One more question...in the pleat itself, are there 5 pinches tacked together or the more typical 3?
