Need some help with my Alocasia

Hi all. I haven't posted here in years. I used to post under "ttkidd" mostly in the Orchids forum before Gardenweb was acquired by Houzz.

I have what I believe is an Alocasia of some sort that's in need of help. It was gifted to me about 10 years ago and has been grown as a houseplant the whole time. Last re-potted a year ago and seemed to be doing fine up until a week ago. I was taking it to the bathroom for a good shower when it basically just collapsed.

I dug it out of the soil to see what happened, and it looks like it just separated from its root system. Top-heavy maybe? I dug though the pot and the soil is still fresh and not compacted. The roots I pulled out of the pot were still white and firm. The point where the two tubers had previously been attached to each other were white and firm. I soaked them in water to remove all the dirt, and peeled back all the papery bits to look for soft spots or signs of rot and couldn't find anything. I tend to underwater rather than overwater anyway.

I'm attaching a photo at the end of the message. Only the bottom two inches or so were below the soil line. I'd appreciate any help anyone can give, both in terms of what might have happened, and how I should proceed from here.
