This guy needs a leader

This is a two year old calamondin I started from seed. It consists of 4 or 5 equal sized branches. No leader. It tends to lean to one side, although it does not look like it in the photo. Any suggestions as to how I can make this into a regular looking tree with one or a few leaders?

Calamondin is a bushy tree; it does not have a leader and laterals as standard "trees" do. Prune it any way you want it. It is a citrus and will grow as it wants, or as you want.

i have the same problem with one of mine. I thought about cutting off a long branch and grafting it to itself and then training it from there. May only be worth it if the plant is a slow grower though.

John, the other calamondins I have have one central trunk with branches emanating from it resulting in nice balanced trees. This one has an almost non existent trunk with these long gangling branches which lean sideways.

I was Thinking. The United states has been in need of a leader in congress for decades now. After seeing how our country has done I realize your calamondin may really need a leader even if it is not a good leader.

Lol Steve. I am also planning on taking pruning shears to a bunch of mine that are way too bushy and out of control. I wish I had done it earlier but hate the thought of chopping off good new growth. I will try and save the chopped branches for cuttings.
