I have both, they are very different. IKEA is much more flexible and has lots more options like drawer sizes, drawers inside drawers, that sort of thing. Clip is much more traditional, with more wood tones (more color options generally) as well as more options in things like crown moulding, decorative legs, etc. They are both fine. I live four hours from the closest IKEA so cliq wins when I'm doing an apartment or a small coffee area in my office. My house is ikea.

There's better out there that's for sire. American made too.

Better out there but for that kind of price? Or at least comparable? I would love other options.

I believe Ikea is particle board construction and CliqStudios is plywood. FYI

Good quality low voc particle board is superior in every way to Cheepchinesecrapola plywood.

Whatever did you decide? I want to replace my kitchen cabinets - I CANNOT afford to go to a cabinet maker....well, maybe if I wait another 10 years. I'd like to have my kitchen done in a few years time and I know that I won't be able to afford to go to a designer and have them customize everything or go to a cabinet maker. Of course there are better cabinets. I'm about 3 1/2 hours from my nearest IKEA and so am not sure if I should go with them or cliq....and like people have said - they say there is better but no recommendations unless you quadruple the figure.

So, I don't know the quality difference between IKEA or Cliqstudio (sorry!). However, I have heard of people using IKEA cabinet bases and then Semihandmade for cabinet doors. Semihandmade make a beautiful selection of cabinet doors that are specifically made to fit onto IKEA cabinets.

I have not personally used them but am always amazed by the designer looking kitchens they produce. Hope this helps and good luck!

Buyer be ware, do not buy from Cliqstudios. Their quality is very poor. Cabinets chip at the slightest bump. Worst purchase ever! The second photo is a door we replaced one week ago because the first door's paint was flaking off. We spent over $15,000 in cabinetry, and ended up with complete junk. Cliq has sent replacement doors which are same quality, and a touch up kit that doesn't match the finish on the cabinets.

Ikea kitchen here, actually 2 and about to do a 3rd. The first kitchen is almost 10 years old so they have changed their product a bit. They still look great. The second time around we used SemiHandmade cabinet fronts and I would highly recommend this combo. Will be doing my third and final kitchen in my forever home with these. Semihandmade drills cabinet fronts to Ikea standards so they just pop right on. And they are thick and beautiful.

I looked at the Semihandmade doors. They aren't cheap, so at that prices, I might as well as go full custom than Ikea boxes.

Ikea kitchen - why oh why does America persist in the misapprehension that plywood is better than particleboard? Here's a simple experiment that you can do - get some 3/4" plywood and 3/4" particleboard - lean them against a wall and then come back about a month later - which one is still perfectly flat and straight?

I think that most people who don't like Ikea kitchens have basically never owned one, they just don't like the idea of them..

I have Ikea - it's great and It's GUARANTEED for 25 years. Ask your cabinet maker to guarantee their kitchen for 25 years and see how far you get.

The door hardware is made by BLUM from Austria - it's what they use on 100K+ kitchens from Poggenpolhl or Siematic - the Maximera drawers that Ikea use are BLUM Tandembox - again, very high end and you are getting those drawers at a bargain price because with IKEA you have the advantage of volume and that means big negotiating power on pricing.

Yes there are other options. Distribution is regional, and so are prices, and prices factor in transportation. Which is why you need to check with a local KD about what they would recommend. A choice that is a value in one area might not be in another because of the shipping fees factored into the pricing. or one dealer sells 30x another dealer, so gets better pricing. Or one dealer is a displaying dealer and gets better pricing.

Work with a local KD, and give them your budget up front. They won’t show you the Lamborghinis if you are on Hyundai Accent budget. Don’t forget that cabinets are only about a third of an overall kitchen remodel budget.

Try Nelson Cabinets out of Dallas, very reasonable, plywood boxes but some assembly required. American made!

There was another post on here recently from someone complaining about low-quality Cliq cabinets (maybe on remodeling? it was someone with a beautiful design sense who was also redoing a fireplace.) When I was trying to figure out what direction to go in with my kitchen remodel, I order a bunch of sample doors from Cliq and the finishes were not reassuring. People do wonders with Ikea, both using the full Ikea doors etc or customizing via Semi-handmade or another vendor. If you want another mid/lower-end option, we used Diamond brand cabinets and the painted finish has held up perfectly in a very small space with tons of traffic (including clumsy teenage boys.) We got ours via a kitchen cabinet shop, but I think they are also sold at Lowes.
