Looks fine to me. The leaves would give you a good indicator if something was wrong. Will you plan on moving it outdoors? Looks like it's starting to stretch, are you only using light through a window or do you have any supplemental lighting?

Yes only using light through window. Dont have much knowledge abt supplemental lighting. If i may ask, would it be sufficient(for now) if I used the below light fixture for supplemental lighting?

That should work. It is best to keep it no more than about 5cm above the leaves, for maximum light intensity.

Will the plant eventually be going outdoors? It might be good to start hardening it off if the weather conditions are adequate.

Yes, those lights will do fine. Keep the light very close to the top of the plant and raise it as the plant grows. I use shop light too for my seedlings, until the weather is good and I can harden them off and then get them out in full sun after. Are you in a grow zone that is cold? Usually plants would be outside by now.

Im in India and temperatures here never get too cold, i plan to keep moving the plants into bigger pots even after they go outdoors as i dont have the option of putting them in the ground. I do have a big terrace with lots of strong sunshine which i dont think these seedlings are ready for yet. One more question, how often should i be watering these seedlings as the potting mix looks pretty dry on the top after every 24 hours of watering, should i watering every 24 hours or less frequently ?

Pepper stems change color as the surface matures and hardens, internal growth can appear when the stem is still translucent and different varieties can display differing conditions of this. Bottom line, your seedling looks normal....and healthy I might add!

As to your watering question this is very subjective and dependent on what your potting media is along with air temp & humidity when outside. Over watering is probably the #1 reason for leaf color issues and seedling growth questions. Bottom line to my advice is soak container and note weight, wait for plant to droop then note weight......water when close to this weight.

Hi thanks for ur help and inputs guys. I guess I was having to water frequently because I wasnt watering deeply when I did, I water them lightly every 24 hours. But as you guys said I'm going to water deeply and give good breaks in between

Yea I see that now. I googled it and this is where it brought me. Seedling stem color changing. That is the name....nevertheless that would be a strange hot pepper.

That being said, and not having any familiarity with Japanese Maples, I wouldn't be concerned about the stem colors changing unless it was changing to a color that made me think it was dying. Most plants go from a greenish stem when young to a darker color as they age. This is the stem becoming "woody" instead of soft like the newest stems and leaves.
