can't tell from photo if white spots are dried salts from tap water... but could be some bizarre evidence of spider mites (usually spider mites show a diffuse, sickly, speckled/mottled look on the underside of the leaves -eventually top side, too) with a hint of fine webbing. Leaves start looking paler and paler. This IS a typical reaction, however, to attempt to grow a Majesty palm indoors... leaves die and fall off due to lack of bright light, high humidity and wind exposure. Very hard species to grow indoors without at least 1/2 a year of its life outdoors, too (unless you have a greenhouse). This plant HATES the indoors. But super cheap so stores sell if for that purpose, knowing it will die and you can just get another one.

Not easy in the house as noted above..., I actually think the coconut palm is easier!

I have mine outside about 8 months of the year, maybe two months in the garage, then the remaining two in a humid and bright basement. I don't care what you have heard about watering palms..., this species likes it on the WET side (I will even let it sit in a shallow saucer of water a times.)
