Lovely! I have a young one with a bud getting ready to open. However, the plant doesn't show much variegation which is a major disappointment. Perhaps it is just waiting for cooler weather!

I didn't buy this one myself. It was a gift/trade. I gave some plants to a friend and she brought me some in return that she had that I had an interest in trying. She's a sweetie. As my Black Tie Affair never blooms very well for me and the flowers are small, I may try to cross this one with a fantasy flower, one with variegation, and see if I can make an improved version of BTA.

I've had good luck with Black Tie Affair. It will be interesting to see what comes from your fantasy cross. Here's a picture of my BTA.

Sorry to hear your "Black Tie Affair" doesnt bloom for you! I know when I got mine it stayed real tight in the middle and grew reallllly slow. Then I put it on the new plant stand and it opened right up and just flowered for the first time!

Yours does look good, Terri! Mine always looked more like Stamik's with small, not well formed flowers. I suspect it doesn't like my heat. I did keep one baby so that once we relocate my collection to a cool basement, I can give it another try. Some of my Russians really have a hard time making it through my hot summers as well. EK Sacarabe for example is a favorite but I rarely ever see a flower on it because every summer it struggles not to die, and it is a hard one for me to get babies from. If I could keep it cooler I think it would do much better but for now, there is nothing I can do to keep my studio out of the lower 80's when it's 90's or 100 degrees outside.
