I just went to parade of homes and these elements were the basics in all the kitchen.....what was trending was curtains or roman shades at the windows and large art work on the walls and chandiliers in the eat in areas...this is a lovely current kitchen.

I like the kitchen. It is warm and inviting. The all white kitchens can tend to be cold and sterile looking.

Looks classic. I'd change the hardware for an updated look. If you wanted to make the investment, change the backsplash to a more updated and reflective material. A white glass or glossy ceramic arabesque?

Agree that it would be nice to see your pulls (e.g., nickel) rather than have them disappear into the cabinets as the current ones do, but that's a small point. Probably somebody making this kitchen This Week would go for a cooler/brighter backsplash, in a shiny cream glass or ceramic tile, rather than the stone, but I wouldn't go so far as to say that this kitchen is dated -- dark cabinets are still a popular choice, and your counters are beautiful. If it feels dark, I'd look into adding more light, either with brighter bulbs (in a daylight color) or with more of them. Otherwise, just live in it an enjoy!

I live on a new development, of the seven houses I've seen around me only one has an all white kitchen and the other has a white perimeter and black island. Everyone else has these beautiful dark woods - someone even has walnut.

I think some new hardware is in order then. Should I go with a brushed nickel? Any thoughts?

Kristin, as you can see from the comments, all white is not the only way to update. I do agree on the cabinet hardware. Such an easy fix and kind of amazing how it can change things.

Honestly, the word "dated" gets overused on this site. If someone loves quartz counters, they'll refer to granite as "dated". It's been treated as another way of saying, "I don't like it" or, "It's not my taste". Everything can be dated, and it all comes back around if you wait. Though hot right now, the all-white-marble counters trend will itself become dated in somebody's opinion, either because it's become overdone or there is a new hot trend everyone wants. What matters above all is do YOU love it if it's your home.

I read blue accents would be nice. Are there other accent colors, one would recommend?

I think brushed nickel hardware would look great. Also nice with your ss appliances. Blue seems like an especially nice color for accents.

No...this is classic...and modern...not dated...it is very neutral so your decor can take it to the next level...I agree some color would make it more personal and give it more life ...but I am not a fan of theme colors...try looking at pics on Houzz if you wish to add color...try "yellow kitchens".. for instance ...or "modern kitchens with dark cabinets"

You can pull some colors from your surrounding rooms.

I love Mark's comment..... when I glanced over it I thought.....well how dare he....! What I think he is saying, is at some point SOMEONE is going to call it dated OR too trendy...OR??? this kitchen has a solid Classic base, which creates a design that is timeless:) Yes everything will date at some point, but the folks that decided on the finishes and counter here, in my book made good choices . I do agree that changing the hardware to a nickel ,will aesthetically brighten the cabinets:) If that doesnt still quite do it for you, then possibly change the back splash to a reflective mosaic:) I LOVE the granite, btw, I just installed something similar , in my home:) Good luck:) ~Catz

Beautiful kitchen - add window treatment, change hardware, add accent colors and perhaps pendant lighting over bar and I think u will LOVE it.

I love your kitchen! We just had our cabinets refaced to the same color as yours. I also agree that you should change the pulls to brushed nickel. It would be a nice contrast and go with your appliances. Add some accents in a color that you really like, maybe a plate on a stand, canisters, etc. would be nice. I have red accents in my kitchen.

I honestly think that kitchen is really pretty. It's pretty modern too. I think that you could use maybe another window or a pretty ceiling light, to add some more light. But, not dated at all

Yes adding new hardware would make a big difference. Your handles just disappear into the cabinets since they are so dark. If you want to jazz things up a bit try adding some accents colors from your surrounding (whatever colors you use in surrounding rooms).

It's "dated" only if you are a slave to every design whim out there. This is classic. And if you like it, it's a-ok.

I just started switching out a few on the top. What do you think? Still complete all hardware in satin nickel or stay with the black?

I like the shine of the nickel, the hardware chosen is not my favorite. Hopefully others will chime in.
