OLLD - 5/10

Hello to OLLDs and to anyone who knows David of Ironwood.

Auntie Eztia here, asking that you send healing thoughts and/or prayers to David every day for at least another week or so. Hopefully this will be just a blip in his health status and will not develop into something more serious.

David is following olldbobbi's orders to stay off Houzz. He needs to rest.

Angela, you can get your geriatric training here, if you want to make the trip. Our town has the oldest age group in the state!

bobbi, good move to get two new curtains. Ever look for things like that on etsy? I have been looking for a burlap bedskirt and there are a couple of beauties on that site.

    night roo.

    Hi, michi.

mp, thought of you today because we are just getting the flowering trees, etc now. We must be almost a month behind you. My cherry laurels are so gorgeous right now.

Mother's Day...no mutha here but me. All I want is some Boots#7 facial wash and Minardi mousse. And one of my husband's burgers on the grille. Boy, he makes a great burger. He puts a piece of cheddar in the middle of natural ground sirloin ; grilles slices of red onion to top the burger. Ketchup has to be Heinz and I am in heaven. He uses English muffin toasting bread, brushes on a little oil, and grilles the bread, too.

Judy! 'Bout time you got on here! And what time is the bbq? I'll be there, it sounds amazing!
STK! I just got the email that you posted on here! Gee, only nine hours ago. That wake up call doesn't sound pleasant to me! Oh, and that HS102 - there's a guy on my block who tends to his lawn with tweezers, and will only wear black pants and a white T. It's like a uniform or something. I have GC-101 mastered, I can skip that lesson.
bobbi -- I don't even remember seeing STK's posts when I came in here this morning. Maybe I missed them, but I'm pretty sure I read the whole thread this morning. Or, I'm just going insane.
No, I don't think you're going insane! I didn't see either one of them. How could this be? I know! Maybe his computer clock is set wrong! hehehe
  • 13 years ago
maybe I should change my name to Mousse :)
Finally found a terra cotta planter I wanted today!! big selling point? ON SALE It's one of those large herb planters you can use for strawberries or herbs or flowers with the cups extending out from the pot. I just love it and I have wanted one for a long time. If they the price is cut more over the season I might get another one, but for now i'm really happy. I have a friend who might "need" one too...what a nice surprise for her!
@Mousse -- that would be very classy!

Someone, MP I think it was? Asked to see some of my artwork for clients. I thought I'd show you all a label I just designed for our family business. It's for bottles of BBQ spice that we're giving away as promo items.
very nice. really like the skull and crossbones effect :)
i might be back to making mice so i think i'll keep my name...just a passing thought :)
    Phew. Glad that's done!

12.68 miles in a little less than 2 hours with 3 killer hills.

I've already told my work partner that we are calling for lift assists tomorrow.
I've considered taking up biking (outdoors). My fear is that I'll get too far away and have to call someone to come and pick me up... lol
  • 13 years ago
mousemaker - what do you mean, making mice again?

    Kimdee - GREAT label!

    Robin, quit showing off :))
Hahaha! It's not too bad when its flat... It's the hills that killed me.

The worst is when you bike to work, thinking you'll get some exercise and the weather takes a turn for the worst during the day. I've had to bike home in a blizzard through the river valley...
    Robin, yuk, don't do that.
It was only 3 1/2 miles but I was kinda grumpy by the time I got home. And being single, there's nobody to call to pick me up.

Lesson learned. Maybe the forecasters are right SOME of the time.

There's nobody for me either, Robin. But I'd come get you.

    Thanks, Bobbi!

Somebody is walking around on my roof -- here to fix the fascia that blew off to Oz.
    Aww thanks Kimdee!

Yay for getting the roof fixed!!!

We girls gotta stick together. I considered, a few times, riding my bike to the golf course from my old house in Terwillegar Towne. But then I thought, by the time I got there, I'd be sweaty and ragged and too tired to golf, and then I'd have wine and I'd have no way to get home. If I didn't get myself killed on the Henday first. Or 215 Street.

Decided it was a bad idea.
Yeah. Henday probably not so bad as there's good sized shoulders but 215st is scary. Even driving
  • 13 years ago
    oldB? knitting!!!! omg omg

EZ i'm glad you're getting rain. I wish ours would go away..i want some nice dry days...

EZ, congratulations on your downpour!!! Did you do your rain dance?

    Anyone hear from David today?

EZ - we used to say "three drops on a brick" for a light sprinkle. Sometimes accompanied by comments about how big the bricks were...like sidewalk bricks...

Another description my brother uses for a major thunderstorm which doesn't bring rain is "only a couple hundredths of rain, but we got about 3 inches worth of lightning." You know rain is appreciated when you measure it in hundredths...

I hope he alternates rest with some Houzzing....as long as he takes good care of himself! He has a very active mind..needs to keep it busy!
-Ni night Roo! Hope u have a great weekend
-Hope everyone has a wonderful Mother's Day!!
I guess I'm not the only one who wondered how you "make mice"! :))

I used to love bicycling; there was a park in the area along a stream, and it went under the cross-streets, so you didn't have to contend with traffic at all. Most of it was fairly flat, and you could get a 15 mile ride out of it. But where I live now, you've got to cross streets, and I'm not sure how good my balance is these days.
We have a gorgeous river valley with miles of trails. The only trick is getting to them.
I like to bike too..My Trek got stolen last year...someone left it in our driveway :(
  • 13 years ago
I was looking through the dilemmas,,new, featured, most recent activity...NOT SO GOOD. Posts that have been up for months; ridiculous questions and expectations; no constructive convos going on.

Where is Emily? I think she is among the missing.

It seems as though it has become a site where anyone can post looking for free advice. Never a thank you or even a "like" to acknowledge that you have taken the time to comment.

Many of our favorite commentators are MIA; no longer part of our fun, creative, stimulating discussions. It just does not feel the same.
Judy, I think Emily got a promotion! The last time I saw her name it had the title Manager after it!
Judy, who's missing? I haven't seen Cynthia Taylor-Luce lately, and Deborah is probably burned out after that last snarky guy, who else?

How frustrating! Second week of May and a very significant number of the summer programs for my daughters age group are full!
That would be frustrating. I hope you can find something for her that she'll enjoy.
Dy only came once, feeny michi and olldcan have been gone forever! Also olldj22. Judym?
Lisa quit after she got sick, remember?

Why would a company include only queen pillowcases with a king duvet cover?

Hi-ya... I had a rather interesting day... Went in to Pintrest... looked up concrete planters, moved on to another site... And got a Trojan horse... Yey! Not one that one wants... My computer has been so freaking slow all day...
I had payrolls to do, and it took me twice as long as it should... I installed firefox... seems to be faster, as my computer weeds out the damn bugs...
I can see you all had some fun...
David... I am sending everything I have to give for you... Prayers, thoughts and energy... Take care OK... You have a lot of people that care about you...
I think I am going to quit watching Hell's Kitchen. Who are these people who can't cook a scallop or sear off a piece of tuna? They are supposed to be professionals...

    Robin -- that's really silly...
Patty -- you did have an interesting day. Hope your computer is okay.
Thank You Kimdee... we will see... It's pretty old... And now is not the time to have to replace a computer...
But you do what you need to.... Chit...

Some of the posters mentioned post on AARP: Creeser, Feeny, Michi, Busylady & J22; I think they primarily post on Houzz about Houzz-subjects, but are more comfortable talking about personal things, in the private group we have. Some other OLLDs joined, but don't post. Once you get to the group, I can explain settings, so you get e-mail notifications for new discussions & posts (when they work)

AARP has been very frustrating; for a week their system of e-mail notifications was down, and there have been other quirky problems with the website .. but it still has the benefit of privacy.

Sorry to hear that lisalovesquilts left, after being sick.

I totally agree with JudyG about the lack of real "design dilemmas" to tackle, and the lack of administration, in removing or relocating posts that don't belong where they are.
