What is good material & cost for a mannequin

Hi all. I like those torso mannequins that people have mosaiced here. I was looking for one on ebay (or if I ever got lucky at a garage sale).

What is a good material? It seems they are made of either plastic or foam and neither of those sound like good things to mosaic.

What is a reasonable price for one?
