I hope I am not posting to the wrong category.

I purchased a beach house (zone 7b) that has an in ground pool with what is described as a "pool fence" that surrounds it.

The thing looks like a giant white play pen. It was not properly installed and one side is leaning. Some of it is cracking due to exposure to the elements.

The re-purpose gardener in me want's to keep it and do something with the mess rather than have it taken away and contribute to a land fill.

I have looked all over the net for ideas about what might completely cover the fence with minimal success. I think the best route for me to go would be planting a "living fence" which would also allow for future landscaping around it. I prefer fast growing shrubs etc. that would stay green all year. Vines are out the fence won't support them.

I have seen privet being used to cover chain link fencing with great success but have researched that it can be invasive.

Any thoughts about this issue would be appreciated.
