I bought a cheap VFT a few years ago at Lowe's and planted in in my garden (VA 7A) fours years ago. It's doing fine. I grabbed some moss from around my air conditioner unit and mixed it with the local heavy clay soil. In the winter it dies back to nothing so I cover the site with a rock so I don't forget where it's planted. It comes back in the spring. I keep it well watered and it's in almost full sun.

I definitely like the ones that are sold at various times at Walmart. Many times, you can find pots that have many plants per container, for $5, compared to the ones at Lowes, which are usually 1 plant for $5, or a slightly larger one for $10.
