This is a primary hybrid. purpur. x inter. Not to be confused with shilleriana the species. This hybrid was made in 1898. I do not know of any other orchids that the species name is used for a different hybrid. The date may have something to do with it. I do like the flower. And I do like the parents. I'll wait a few days to see if it is fragrant. If anyone has additional history on the name, please post.
