lemon tree reborn

My ponderosa lemon tree got pretty bad root rot last winter + I overfed it with fertilizer. I ddecided to unpot it two months ago and I put it in a 12 inch pot filled with citrus/cactus soil from miracle grow. It's currently in full flush of new growth. Thank you for the advice when I needed it a few months ago, it would have been a shame to lose that tree. Here are some pictures:

I also bought a meyer lemon two weeks ago. Should I repot it now or wait for later this summer? Its in a 7in nursery pot.

Looks great! I am glad it rebounded for you! I hope mine do the same shortly. I would repot it now. I keep finding most of my new trees are coming from the store with varying degrees of root rot. just be sure to put it into the shade for a few weeks after to let it acclimate.

Over fertilizing does not cause root rot, lack of oxygen causes root rot in container tree. Most frequently the lack of oxygen is caused by over watering a medium that has compacted and no longer drains well. Great that the tree is making a come back.

If it is grafted one then I would keep an eye on the shoots coming out at the base of the tree.
