It'[s a Rose of Sharon, and it is a sturdy shrub. Have you seen any insects on the leaves, including the underside of the leaves? Please tell us where you are (zone, state, nearest big city) and how your weather has been. I have several RoS myself and they are tough as nails, so this is a mystery.

That will do it. These are very drought tolerant plants and too much moisture can cause this yellowing. It'll be fine.

I checked the leaves for insects and didn't see any. It seems it's just the leaves are covered with black spots and losing color. I sprayed it with a neem oil extract. The instructions say it's 3 garden products in 1: insecticide, fungicide, and miticide. We'll see what happens.

It didn't need anything. You shouldn't get worried over a few chlorotic leaves.

I'm really worried now.

Hello everybody and thank you for reading and replying to my post. I just wanted to write a short update. I sprayed it with neem oil a couple of times and also thinned it out a little bit because I thought maybe because of the rains we've been having, it didn't get proper ventilation. It looks much better now :-)

I'm glad it's looking better. They really are tough things, and you can prune the heck out of them anytime you want - thinning it was a good idea.
