I wish I could go...I love citrus and Savannah! Too difficult for me to get away though...my family is planning a trip so Savannah this coming February, are those sites listed in Savannah and would they be open to visitation in February. That may be a fun "field trip" for my family while we are there ;-)

Is there a guide to the citrus at Armstrong State University and the Coastal
Georgia Botanical Gardens? I searched and could not find any.

Just to clarify, the expo often includes tour offerings of more general
interest to attendees. Both Armstrong and the Botanical Gardens have
various plantings such as camilias or plants native to Georgia. There is
a map for the various gardens at Armstrong and I'm sure the botanical
Gardens provides info on what can be seen there. Neither has much
citrus, just a tree or two. There aren't any citrus arboretums in the
Savannah area. For that you have to go to the arboretum in Lake
Alfred, FL. What we have are home growers, especially out on the
islands. You just see citrus trees where you see them. For instance, I
saw a Meyer in a front yard out at Tybee Island today holding a
respectable number of fruit. For the expo there will be one back yard
tour offered, mine, and for sure one commercial grove tour, maybe two.

Thanks Manda! I saw a lemon on Tybee when I was there about a year ago. I'll look again when we visit and may check out the botanical gardens as well.

I am planning to attend. Will there be a plant sale this year? (I've heard mention of sales at previous expos)

Unfortunately, due to the dangers posed by the Asian citrus psyllid, the
sale of citrus trees will be limited at the expo. We are working on
having several growers available to sell trees in advance and then
brought to the expo. These can only be trees that will stay in Georgia.
We are still verifying with the USDA if this will even be feasible. At
some recent past expos tree couldn't be sold at all. Citrus greening is
affecting everyone, not just Florida. Obviously, we hope limited sales
will be possible.

Most of the trees sold at the Southeastern Expos are from McKenzie Farms. I've been to three Expos. You can buy them directly from Stan over the Internet.

Thanks for the comments. Yes, Stan McKenzie started the Southeastern
citrus Expo in 2003 and he's also an excellent source for good-quality,
mostly cold hardy trees. I have four of his that are all doing well. He
does ship trees and his prices are very reasonable.

But there are rare varieties that have popped up at that exhibition that included cold-hardy hybrids Stan doesn't have.

Usually you just have to ask for a fruit, and then take out the seeds and grow them from seed.

Yes, I think there have been unusual cold hardy varieties sold at expos in the past that Stan doesn't grow. If we are able to allow growers to do advance sales of trees that will be staying in Georgia, then that could be true this year as well. Ralph Denton of VA Beach is one you may be thinking of. He can be looked up and asked, though I don't know if he can ship. Again, I don't know yet if we'll even be able to have advance tree sales at the expo this year, and those would be trees that stay in Georgia. I'm still working on getting an answer to that question.

There is a garden club in Hilton Head that I understand grows some citrus (including kumquats). They are in HHI Plantation, I believe. Perhaps too far for a visit? I was not able to find out if they normally allow visitors.
