Bringing natural light into shower

Our master bath shower is in a corner. It currently has a glass enclosure on two sides (door on one side, glass enclosure above a 2 foot high tiled tub surround on the other). During our remodel I want to replace the side that does not have a door with a full height tiled surface that would be very easy to maintain. We will also be removing the garden tub. However my wife just told me there should be more natural light in the shower and suggested a glass block window. There are two existing large windows on either side of the shower so it is a valid point. I'm not a fan of glass block. Are there other easy to maintain options to bring light into a shower enclosure other than glass enclosures on top of a tiled pony wall and glass block? Is there a modern glass block that would look nice with a simple European style?

StanZ have you eliminated the possibility of a solortube or similar? Sometimes those can be very easily to install, sometimes.

in the fall someone revealed a bath where there was a transome window on a tiled shower wall to let in light and to let out steam. it looked great. i can not find the image but it was a similar idea as thid picture but the trsnsom was higher and could open like an awning window.

Sorry should have posted a photo first. A solartube is a good idea but its in an exterior corner of the house under a hip roof and HOA wouldn't let me change roof line. The windows with the shutters stay.

I like the idea of a transom window but would have to think about making sure it is watertight. It is a 9 foot ceiling so maybe we don't want to take the walls all the way to the top. We are thinking about taking out the tub (never used) and turning the shower so that the door opens where the tub is and that would be a nice drying area.

We have another tub in a second bathroom; lack of a tub in the master bath is not a resale issue where we live. People view these garden tubs as more hassle than benefit (takes too long to fill, hard to get in and out).

I added a masterbath last summer and we chose to forgo the tub for a big multi head shower because we never would use a second tub in this house. I have no regrets.

You could do etched glass or a bubble type glass. So many different options.

with any window in a shower, you risk water issues. Very seldom is

it done well enough to prevent moisture problems.
With the shower size and position as is, I think your best choice is a clear door as you have it. You can also consider frosted, it wouldn't show up water marks much.
losing the tub would possibly make a wall and door a better option, but I still think transparent is best
