Oh Dave, it's a shame that it got hit in the last freezing nights...I remember that pic with all that pips and I was a little bit jealous...But those leaves will do their work and next year we will cross all possible fingers for a wonderful Wu with more than 24 pips :-) Cute cat, by the way...and nice other hostas :-)

Your Empress Wu and her high perched location (looks just like she was sitting on a throne) IS impressive! She is gorgeous even with the minor cosmetic superficial damage...

But yes it is a major frustration to have last bits of frost and cold that sneak up after all of the previous efforts to protect do damage.

Love the setting in your garden... And yes, I do think that your empress wu will thank you next year with more beauty and pips.

Frost or not, it's still a BEAST. As is the one at the bottom of the steps.

Still lovely, I think I would keep looking at from a distance and hope for better weather next season. I feel your pain, had those late freezes here this season too.

It is so disappointing and frustrating to have had that frost damage! But even with the leaf damage nothing is going to stop this hosta from growing. Next year it will be back even better than it was. 24 pips? Wow.

And the hosta on the bottom of the photo is? Do tell.

A bit of distorted perspective with the Hosta at the bottom of the picture, it's not quite as big as it appears. Even so it's getting a bit too big for it's pot.

I was going to guess that hosta as Paul's Glory but its coloring is much brighter than mine (more shade). Whatever size it is---it is gorgeous---and one of my absolute top ten favorites!

Mild winter plus a late frost got several of mine also. I feel your pain, but they are still an impressive bunch.

Thanks for the update! Same thing happened here with a late freeze in May. Your Empress is a real stand out on that ridge. ...I don't know how you keep that grass from taking over. Must be different grass than I have :)
Your white kitty looks absolutely elegant!

The grass is a constant battle. After rain it grows a mile a minute.

I plan to get more hostas in and try to shade it out.

Lots of giants is the way to go I think.
