Fort Williams Park flower

I first want to say that I visited your state over the weekend and it is beautiful. Everyone was so friendly.
Now to my question. I visited Fort Williams Park and at the Goddard mansion there was this beautiful purple flower. Does anyone know what it is? I was thinking it might be a campanula but cannot find one online just like it. It was about 2- feet tall and had bell-like flowers.

I'm so glad that you liked our state! I love it, too and can't imagine being anywhere else. I'm about 10 miles from Fort Williams. I'm going to say that the plant is Campanula rapunculoides (Creeping Bellflower)

Although the link is for Minnesota wildflowers, we have them here. Note the link says Status : Invasive - ERADICATE! I have them here but manage to keep them under control easily.

Thank you for the information. It does look like your photo. I assume that hummingbirds like them.

They can really take over, so be careful! My3dogs, do you notice lots of runners/underground rhizomes?

deannatoby, I'm very lucky - they are easy to control here and I don't find them anywhere that I haven't planted them. I know I could pull the out of that border and they wouldn't re-appear.
