beautiful!!..I wouldn't care if it stayed that size forever..the blooms are fantastic..and it's not a bit floppy..

Thanks for reporting on this one. I am always on the lookout for macrophyllas that will bloom even after dying to the ground.

Babs this one looks good, ES original does well, Nantucket Blue, Twist & Shout, and I got Blushing Bride last year and it's doing pretty well too - has some blooms, needs some iron and the dog to stop peeing on it and it would do better :). I'm not as cold as you, but I don't mess around with any winter protection - maybe some extra mulch around them and that's it - so they all die down and still bloom. T&S has done the best but it's been planted the longest and has never had to be moved, full sun most of the day.

I've had a LDBE for about 5 years and have moved it several times. It only gets about 2' tall per year and gets 1-2 blooms. Very susceptible to freeze damage. When it does bloom the color is very "peachy" which is attractive. The leaves also turn very light in the sun.

I'm not really a fan of it though.

I've done much better with LD Rhythmic Blue and Rave. My parents also have a Blue Jangles which is 3x3' this year with about 15 blooms and is doing very well.

I'm considering donating LDBE to someone or another place, or moving it down the hill into the woods along a couple trails I made this year.

If anyone else can chime in with some LDBE photos (depicting plant siting, etc) that would be helpful as well!
