Looks like Blue Boy, the size, leaf shape, plant habit, coloration, and flower color are all right. It's a very nice hosta, grows well just about anywhere, and is easy to divide if you want more clumps.

The other possibility is Blue Cadet, which is a much more commonly seen hosta, but the flower color is wrong.

dhaven, thanks for your help! I was starting to lose hope. I looked up blue boy in the hosta library and it doesn't quite have the same appearance. According to its description blue boy has slightly undulated leaves and is a little larger than this plant. I agree about blue cadets flowers being quite different. The plants appearance, other than size looks more like blue cadets. There are a lot of blue hostas to lo I through!

Size is somewhat dependent on growing conditions, such as soil quality, light, and watering. Crowded hostas will often be smaller than those with plenty of room, and clay soil will definitely affect mature size.

Thanks Ken and dhaven. I think those are the conclusions I have reached. I've had it for years and it's always a consistent performer, so will probably continue to use it as an edger and just be glad that it performs so well and has it's little unnamed place in the garden. We will move on to more identifiable ones. Get ready! Ken

Having tilted at similar windmills in the past, I'd go with Green NOID (No ID) or G.G. (generic green) and move on to the next one.

I've come to that conclusion Terry. I will move on with my life. I think this search will continue forever and we will never know for sure. Liked Ken's idea to buy named and keep track. I didn't know better back then. It will be a good filler until I run out of room. Thanks for the great advice. Will submit another one soon that is a little more identifiable. Ken
