I bought one from Palatine this spring. I had a band for 3 + years, it's winter hardy here in zone 6a NY, but I lost it to vole damage this spring.

No help here on it's actual hardiness, but it's purported to be at least to Z6. I ordered mine this Spring from ARE and have seen one thrippy bloom, but others are developing. She joins Aloha and Parade, two other progeny of New Dawn, if that gives you any indication of its hardiness and vigor. All three supposedly share a stiffer, upright growth habit, but I'm hoping they all inherit ND's health as she's one rose that barely BSs here where many others completely defoliate. Their flowers have been magnificent, but I think Blossomtime's are more delicate in feeling.

OT, I also saw another glorious rose last weekend with beautiful, fragrant flowers that was healthy and vigorous without much help. It's an older HT called 'Radiance". Yummy.

Here in zone 5 I have yet to be able to keep 'Blossomtime' alive, alas. 'Parade', 'Coral Dawn' and 'Etude' have grown back from each winter freeze to make, not climbers, but substantial shrubs. Even 'Cherryade' grows and produces its' amazing flowers.

Dear vaporvac, 'Radiance', don't I just wish! 'Radiance' and sports are perhaps THE quintessential American rose family, and they do not survive my combination of thick, acid soil and long, cold winters.

I know. I think I'm at the limit, so I was surprised at their health. However, they were quite a bit south of me in Lexington, Ky. Frankly, I always thought Lexington was 7a, but it's rated as 6a. I'm supposedly in a 6b bubble here in Cincinnati so 'Radiance' is on a someday list. It's funny how once one sees something, it's everywhere!

Do you have thrips? Many of my roses will ball with thrips but are fine when the thrips are controlled. Maybe blossom time is not affected as there is very little scent. I ordered 2 bands last season. One made it through the winter but is only one cane. I would guess you would be fine in zone 6, but may not reach the full climbing potential of a warmer zone. It is a beautiful rose. I have another one in a pot this year...

With my rain and humidity my Blossomtime does not ball, but it seems prone to powdery mildew.

Kelly, my single thrippy bloom was very fragrant. While a sad site, it's enough to keep me on pins and needles for the current developing buds. Looking on HMF, someone coincidentally compares the bloom to Radiance!

I'm no help either but should I find a good one I mention it on here. I swear my yard is queen of balling roses. I used to want to drag fans outside and point them at Jasmina and Cinderella.

I'm in a different area for sure, but mine does not ball at all and neither does jasmina . Blossomtime is so very thorny , I hope I never have to move it . It does get black spot but I have a honeysuckle with it so that has filled in where it is bare. Mine is a climber for sure , but I was thinking of cutting it like a shrub in early spring next year. Mine is fragrant for sure . It also is the Japanese beetles absolutely favorite rose :(. Mine is on it's 4th year I think and hasn't stopped blooming since spring , so I am very happy with that !

Blossomtime made it through it's first winter here with heavy winter protection, it's planted with the graft 6in below soil level. It was however dead to the ground with only inch of cane. It's grown back to about 2ft and will be blooming in a day or two. It has 8-9 very flexible healthy canes.

No blooms last year as it was a sickly body bag :)

I'll take a photo of the bloom when it opens, and hopefully she'll make it through this winter as well. She won't ever climb, but that's fine by me :)

There is another hardy climber called Dream Land, very pretty. I got a lot of blooms on their 2nd year. I really love this rose, so I bought 4. :-)

I'm with Mcnastarana - I've tried Blossomtime a couple of times and I've never been able to get it to survive in zone 5. Gillian describes what it will do with more intense protection, which is die to the ground after the winter. Even if it survives in zone 6 I doubt it would be a climber for you. Aloha, Colette, and Lady Ashe are all much more reliably hardy climbers in that color scheme.

Cynthia is right, had I know she was so tender I would have picked a different rose. Impulse buying is never a good thing :)

Coral Dawn Is pretty much cane hardy here, had very little winter damage from last winter. It's about 7' tall here in zone 6a.

Aloha, Colette, and Lady Ashe are own root on their 2nd year here, too young to tell, but so far without much winter damage. Colette is rated for zone 7, so I planted it in a protected area.

Is NJ in zone 6b/7a? It should be warmer than here 6a. Here is an ice hole indeed.

Gilllan, I am by Lake Erie and Lake Ontario in the US, about 2.5 hrs from Toronto, and 1 hr from Palatine. I am in a little area rated for zone 6a. My friends 15-20 miles away are in zone 5b. I know it's colder in Toronto. It might be in the same US zone as Cynthia's. It's not easy to grow roses in colder zones. Your blossomtime is very pretty.

Cynthia, if you grow Blossomtime in a protected spot, it might grow for you. I am just guessing.

Summersrhythm - I'm about an hour and 15m from Toronto, it's is difficult finding roses that do well here. :) But! I'll keep trying ...and thank you, it is very pretty!
