It doesn't look like all your pending blooms have that brown on them. I doubt it's because of that bug, there aren't any bites taken out. It's like some got on the bud edges before it bloom. Something drip on them?

I have flower thrips that especially like my yellow-white flowers. They inflict a similar looking damage. 'My' thrips are blackish, tiny (1 millimeter). A spritz of neem oil from a spray bottle helps...but they have been difficult to control, this year anyway.

Very hot weather does this, apparently, and some recommend providing more water than usual.

Ahh, that's a relief! Maybe move to long hours of first day sun instead of afternoon, and a bit more water.

Looks like a glasswing sharpshooter which is a kind of leaf hopper. IMO they are not friendly and may be causing damage. In this instance I would suspect thrips. The treatment Tunatony recommends will work for both.
