I guess thats the cheaper way to go but oh so slow. Speaking of cocoons I rarely see any anymore most likely because the colony is at its limit. When I harvest anymore it amounts to sifting a tray thru 1/4" hardware cloth and the excess worms[200 or more] I dont separate either but they are still put to good use as they will be dumped into my good garden soil which they may continue to make even better.

She has said before why she can't order live worms: because she lives in a place with lots of inevitable mail delays. That's why she got cocoons, not to save money.
