I just winter sowed this variety. I am hoping it has a strong fragrance, since I really like that old fashioned petunia scent that has been bred out of most of them. Did any of you have any luck with this variety last year?

I am trying these this year also. Sowed two packages (30 seeds) a couple days ago. I have them on heat mats so should germinate quickly. I have always been smitten with the night fragrance of some petunias... So hoping this one is not only highly scented... but wafting as well.

Should I start my seeds now? I want them to flower by May..Thanks

Yes... Get them started now. Petunias are kind of slow to get going after they germinate. It take about 10-12 weeks to grow a petunia from seed to first flower.

I wasn't that impressed with the 3 plants I grew from seed last year. The fragrance was light and had notes of cat urine to my nose. I'll probably sow some more again this year since I bought so many seeds last year. You never know which ones might have a better or richer scent since they're grown from seed and not vegetatively propagated. The old fashioned vining petunias smell better IMO.

Thanks for the update, Robert, even though I was hoping the fragrance would be better than that! I have some seedlings going, so we'll see what happens. Fortunately I have some other 'tunia varieties going as well (Alderman, Purple Pirouette, the old fashioned vining type) so it isn't a big deal if the Scentsation one is underwhelming.
