cabinet colors?

Building a new house - our dream house and first build. We
finally made the decision to go with Dura Supreme maple. Our house will be very open concept -
kitchen, dining and great room all one big space.

White woodwork, white interior doors, maple hardwood in all areas but tile in baths and laundry. Cabinet style will be the same in all rooms

kitchen: Stainless appliances (sub zero, wolf) White painted
perimeter cabinets, two grey stained islands, maple hardwood floors (medium
tone)

Thinking grey stained vanities in second bath, powder and
laundry.

Not sure on master bath.. darker grey tile floor and lighter
walk in shower tile. Ok to do paint in master? Not sure if we should do painted
white or grey or stick with grey stain here?

Any suggestions or thoughts welcome! thanks! :)

    Do you have some pictures?

it is new construction, so I have samples only

White is classic/safer and gray is super trendy, but I love both options. I'd have to see floor/tile choices to better assist.

ah... I don't have pics yet, just samples... we are going to look again tonight, I can take some pics :)

Tell us a bit more about your style, your house's style, and take pics of whatever sample you're talking about, if possible.

We don't even know cabinet style as of now. Except that it will be the same everywhere. The more info you can provide the more helpful we can be with suggestions

Otherwise these are just words. There are literally hundreds of whites, hundreds of greys..darker, lighter-gives too general a description

I can make my wild guesses but they'll stay guesses until I know a bit more.

Gray is trendy so I'd definitely think long and hard because it will eventually look really dated at some point. I'd go with white for in kitchen and vanities. I'd only use gray if you've always really loved it. FWIW, the vanities would be easier/not as big of a job to paint again later if you wanted to use gray somewhere.

What countertop are you going with in the kitchen?

    Thank you all!

Featherbee: Tile in the powder, bath and laundry is Pietra Romana dark grey: Here

Our Master floor is Daltile Slate Attache in meta dark grey and shower wall in meta light grey: here

Aprilneverends - the style is shaker style, very simple. I am hoping to take some photos tonight. Our style is more towards contemporary - but not trendy. We are hoping to pick styles that will be timeless for some time to come since we hope not to have to re-do anytime soon.

The white is bright white (Dura calls it white, for the master bath, we were thinking of Zinc

    Dura Supreme Paints

For the stain it is either shell grey (lighter) or smoke (darker)

    Dura Supreme Stains

LynnNM - I have read and heard that white is timeless, that is why we are doing it mostly in white with the grey island accent pieces. We are fortunate that our current furniture will match this look and if we get new pieces - we will consider your points :) Your kitchen looks great!

Sheeisback - we love grey and have a lot of it in our current home. I don't think we will be disappointed. Dura supreme has two greys, and I think we will stick with the lighter of the two.

Lynn you have most beautiful kitchen and I loved reading its story.

Jenny thank you for providing links! I'll try to google all of these to get some impression and be informed better..even though digital images are sometimes very misleading, in terms of colors..but any info is very helpful.

    ...ok..now I have some impression

    it should look great together

it doesn't matter that much what you choose for master, both would work.. except whether it's to your liking and functions well as you want it to..white will provide more contrast with flooring, grey stain will be easier upkeep though..you know yourself, you decide how much less maintenance will be important to you in the master bath.

If going with grey you can always add lighter rug if you feel you'd like more contrast

or you can choose darker stain for the vanity there..but I think will work fine enough

Or you can go for white.

Or you can bring some other color as to bring more distinctive feel to your master. I'd be inclined to do that maybe. Darker color as not to get too worried about everyday maintenance...a bit different from kitchen, laundry, other baths..but with the same sensibility. Dark blue?

Or maybe to stray a bit in a powder room?

You can achieve a lot with accessories, paint, hardware, that's true, so it won't read too samey everywhere.

But it's a lot of cabinetry. You can allow yourself to do something else in a space or two. A color? Doors' style?

You definitely don't have to. But as an idea.

You'll have enough common elements to still have very cohesive space.

Hi Again, we went in to look at colors last night again and decided to scrap the original floor and wall tile we picked. the new ones are Marazzi Silk Elegant for the floor and American Olean Theoretical white for the Walls. We are thinking that the Dura Supreme Smoke Cabinet will look really nice with this combo. I have attached pics. First one is the master floor (front), wall (back) and cabinet. Second has the addition of the powder, bath and laundry tile (back). The floor is a handscraped solid hardwood Maple Pacific. We felt this tied in the greys and browns.

The designer thought they looked good. Any thoughts or suggestions?

(We are planning to do a matte quartz - white with some grey/tan veining.)

    Thanks!
