Knowing when your house was built should help....but these look pretty much stereotypical 1910 ish stuff....maybe a little later. From a time when light bulbs themselves were considered decorative.

House is 2002, but owner used to travel to Europe all the time and was a big clock collector.

Most likely the paint is not original.....and it looks like perhaps the top one might use a mogul based bulb. I think you can still special order tham.

I disagree about the paint. A lamp and fixture restorer told me that people would often bring in pieces and say "I stripped gold paint off of this and it was brass underneath! Why would someone paint brass?"

He said that "gilt" was a finish option and the occasional garish highlights actually did not look so garish lit by dim carbon bulbs.

When Rejuvenation Lighting was a small company that hand built fixtures to order (in the 1990s) before being sold to a corporation...they said much the same thing. Gold paint that looked like a modern spray painted addition was an original finish option.

Living in Denver is there somewhere we can take them someone to take a look? My wife wants to replace them, but we don't want to scrap something valuable......Thanks!

I would say go ahead and replace them but box them up and hang onto them. Then look and see what similar fixtures are going for on places like eBay. That may give you some idea of what people are willing to pay and then maybe you could sell them yourself on there.
