Wall art too small?

So, Maybe I have a case of "decorators block" because this is my own home and Im thinking too hard about it all, but I need other opinions on the wall art behind the couch. It's not offensive, but still slightly too small IMO. Im not sure if sconces will be too busy because of the shelving I have off to the left. What are some other creative options here?

Might look better if raised somewhat, try that. And forget the sconces. Yes, something larger would be better, but this might look better if higher.

I was thinking the same - looks a little cramped as is.

Is there a companion piece that could hang above it?

A short and wide piece like that might work better over a tv if you have one on a stand.

You need a taller piece. The width looks ok tho.

No to sconces. because of the chunky shelves, you need a little more umph to the art, the balance is so slightly off. I feel like 2 pieces would be better than one here, vertical rather than horizontal.

OR.. maybe its too much square and you need some round shapes...break up the wall.

I know the rug isn't the subject, but I feel this area would look even better (and it looks pretty good already) if the rug were longer by another 2 to 3 feet. Technically it's fine because the legs of the furniture are placed on it, but aesthetically I feel a longer one would make a great statement. I hope I haven't offended by going off-topic.

I love the idea of the round addition up there! I'm just trying to make sure with what I have. Maybe a future plan;)

Bunch it all over the sofa…everything is too spread out on that wall. And paint the shelves white.

You need better lighting…that floor lamp isn’t working..

I would keep the existing art and add 3-4 more pieces to create a gallery wall or get a much larger statement piece to replace it. Good luck!

I think Judy nailed it. Those shelves being as busy as they are, make the picture look lonely. What's beyond the shelves?

I see all that everyone else sees... I'm working on making the flow better. I didn't want to move the shelves because it broke up the space between the eat in and the living space but it would do that just as well if I could fix the space above the couch. The rug issue... well there's good, better and best IMO and at the time better was all we could afford. And still so. The rugs will have to work and tbh it's not a deal breaker, but thanks guys. I'm reworking the area now! I appreciate all of the input:)

And to touch on the light sitch- there is tons of light in this space. Lol. I drew the shades so I could snap a pic with out the sun blasting the shot;)

And if I take down my shelves, then I can use one on either side of the mirror...

Or the mirror off set and two of these stacked next to it

Actuall, those three pictures hung the way you are showing would be fine over the sofa and you can leave the shelves where they are.

I'm not sure they are large enough. It would be about the same size as the larger art piece, maybe even shorter.

Here is what I'm working with... and the shelves. I'm bound to move past this designers block! Lol

This is an option (with a few items on the shelf).

Or this with shelf decor? This would be around the entire width of the couch for perspective

Shelves stick out too far... so maybe this is a winner? I'm not 100% sold but it may look better on the wall

Yes I had it like that too, with the frames mis matched tho

Try this out on the floor: A gallery wall using the piece you showed in the first picture, perhaps even placed vertically, the square piece with the round dark and turquoise ring and the three smaller pictures. If you can make this look good in some configuration on the floor, then hang it up and see how you like it over the couch. Perhaps a turquoise pillow or two on the couch to bring the two elements together. Even is you did nothing except to hang your existing piece a few inches higher that might work for now. It's a very nice and well put-together room right now, and I'm sure with time it will only get better.

Thanks Ingrid! I appreciate the compliment:) I will post when I'm finished with the space. There were some other factors on the opposite wall I had to worry about with the room having too much going on, but decided to take it all down and start from scratch. A clean slate is what I needed. It happens sometimes!

Clapping** looks larger in there now. The chairs look better squared up as well.

perhaps flip the end table to the outer edge and the floor lamp between the couch and chair?
