This year we had a warm winter and wet spring and summer (so far) so yuuge insect and disease pressure this year in N.E.

Usually when you see insects that size doing that kind of damage it is too late to spray. They are too big to kill without serious pesticides that probably are not registered for figs. So better to plan for next year with dormant sprays or in early spring when the eggs are hatching.

If problem is isolated to a few trees try blasting them off with a garden hose and repeat as necessary. Try spraying them with a soap and oil solution. Pick off the ones left. Cut off leaves badly damaged and discard in garbage.
