Last summer i had 5 seeds from a friend, and I planted them i small pots in November.

One survived the winter, and is now 70 cm high.

My friend informed me it's a General Eisenhower, but I doubt it, when i check Google photos.

Does anybody know the name?

That doesn't appear to be from a quick google search myself. Looks like General Eishenhower has purple leaves.

It has finally opened!

Yay! That first flower is so exciting :) Very nice! Cannas and the annual flower Tithonia made me fall in love with orange.

The excitement over big blooms like that is like Christmas morning for a gardener!

Man this Cana is taking over and I love it! I have six grown stalks, and seven more coming up around it! Lol

This is most definitely one of the quick spreading varieties I have some as well and they spread even before they are fully grown while some other varieties wont send up new shoots until it has at least flowered

Oh yes for sure! I planted one small singular shoot, and now have 18 plus stems!!! It shots at least four to six extra shoots each time and it’s had about 4 growth spurts.

I would agree Kent, I thought so when It finally flowered!

Not fair! Canna season is sadly over here. We had our first snow this week almost two weeks before normal. This weekend it will be warm enough for me to go out , cut off the frozen foliage, and put them away for their winter snooze.
