Agartta how are your plants going i have lost about 6 of my plants with root rot

Oh really, thats bad, were they mature plants or seedlings? Do u water them alot? I havent lost only 2 plants and about 7 cuttings, When I bought them from gumtree they has bullet bugs rot, they never recovered, neither the cuttings.

Peter - I have no success with poting mix at all, only with coco coir, Adeniums love coco peat, my seeds in potting mix never sprouted, seeds in coco peat sprouted, 6 cuttings some in potting soil, some in sand, dirt died they rotted, the only promising cutting left was put in coco coir, make your judgement. I don't want any more potting soil in my pots, only coco coir, some sand, some perlite, volcanic dust. I repoted all plants from RareImports into my own mix they all grow new leaves, before they have been potted in boring cactus mix.

The 2 plants I lost from gumtree I planted in cactus mix, not knowing much then. I can swear by coco peat for seeds and coco coir for mature plants. Try some coco coir Peter.

Yeah I do the six i lost were 1yo it was because of the 4 wks of rain in June i had to repot them to take them out of the rain its not a good time (probably pink) anyway.i have lost about the same with the seedlings in spring I'm going to have a think what mix I'm going to put together probably add some volcanic dust and delete the cow poo so i have more control over the nitrogen. I still have about 250 mature plants still but they look terrible, my main large plants are ok little bit of rot in one branch snippet it off rot hasn't traveled far.

Can you put them out of the rain, undercover? And dont water much. I would use the cow manure, its too rich. Use seaweed, blood n bone, fish emulsion, lava rock and no potting mix at all only gravel and coco coir.

I actually sold my old saddle today and use the money to buy a greenhouse for my babies :)

Peter sorry to hear that about your plants The mix I use and mine are thriving even in winter I use cactic mix, potting mix it is a brunning with pink bark in it, a bit of coir and perlite, it doesn't hold the water I can water today and dry by next day I am watering nearly every second day, I give the maxicrop seaweed every fortnight and every 6 months I sprinkle Scotts Osmocote on top of the soil they seem to love this and make them green I will send you some photo of my babies they are 4 months old

Also I have just been using scoria it is very sml lava rock you problably can get at a place that sell soil etc I can get 15kg bags for $10

Thanks for the tips the damage was done by the 4wks of rain i have my main plants under cover these were last summers seedlings all the plants i didn't repot are ok probably about 30 of them man i have some choices of mix this spring im going to pick the eyes out of the mixes my mix now is pretty free flowing i use 1/2 strength seeweed now on every water there is some good advice here . I have one bang wang up rest just starting to move

Its funny how you get rot on your plants Peter when the guys in thailand who have tropical rain grow adenium so well! Need to ask them what do they use!

What i can gather is the potting mix the use don't hold water and the climate is hot so they dont go dormant i never have rot problems in summer i only have rot problems in winter and its only in my plants that i cannot shelter from the rain next year i hope i will have a fix for that .

Some sort of small glass house made out of old sliding doors. im having a think about it old mate down the back of my place has a very large yard i look after he is a little bit of a hoarder he has the doors he said build what you want .

Agartta i ordered the snake oil lol i asked him how much for 20kg $108.00 so i opted for the small bag bit to much money .im getting new growth on my larger plants i stripped the leaves off im hoping this year after repoting them they will power on.any sighn of growth over your way .
