Usually but if your soil ph is very,, very acid or very alkaline, you may get less shades of this multicolored effect. I remember emailing one of the introducer's of one of these types of hydrangeas about that and they replied in extreme cases I would probably get one color or shades of that color.

Thanks, appreciate the info! Do you happen to know if LA Dreamin' or Everlasting Revolution is the best repeat bloomer?

I do not have them but I have read "better" comments about ER. Let's see if owners of both will chime in.

What I forgot to mention NO winter protection in my area

They are beautiful & definitely a plus concerning no winter protection! Lots of blooms! But if I want to get multicolor blooms, Everlasting Revolution might be the way to go. I will wait to see other replies. I have Next Generation Red Sensation & Fuschia Glow. They were planted last fall. Growing well, very healthy, but very little bloom. Not sure whether the repeat bloomers really repeat blooms.

Sally, what Zone are you in..multi color.... I think your soil will tell you... and if you have to work at it every year Forget it

Hyed, I'm in zone 6a, alkaline soil.

You may have to try it for a few years to see how the blooms come out. At first, the roots will be in the potting mix only but afterwards, you should see color changes to reflect the roots growing into your garden soil. If the blooms get "stuck" in only pink colors or shades of pink or something you do not like then consider either amending the soil with sulfur or aluminum sulfate; or give it away to someone else so you can put another better looking hydrangea.

Thanks, Luis, going to take your advice!
