Nice little surprise

It's county fair week, and I always scrounge together some entries for the hort show: avs, Hosta, lilies etc.
My I-don't-know-old plain jane pink (it's NOT zaftig moon like the label says) adenium happened to be blooming on the deck, so I thought 'what the heck'. So 'Jabba' - as we have nicknamed it due to its rotund caudex and the way the root curves around 'Jabba's body' like a tail - made his maiden voyage to the county fair. I figured most folks/judges would not even know what it was and would consider it a curiosity, especially here in podunk. Much to my surprise, it took the 'Award of Merit' for the top container grown plant.
