Plumeria in trouble?

Good afternoon,

It rained quite a bit last week in Houston while I was out of town and when I got back last weekend, I found that my plumeria's leaves were turning a little yellow. Then I noticed that the stem was wrinkled and a little soft.

Worried it was stem or root rot, I transplanted the plant in a new pot with new soil and some sand. I even trimmed the roots and applied a fungicide. It has been 5 days since and the plumeria has grown a new leaf and has signs of growing another new one.

The plant was doing so well until last week.

Will the plant recover? or should I do something else?
