Mineral spirits.....

Isn't Mineral spirits used to dissolve/remove the finish? OP just wants to clean it, not refinish it.

Depending on quality of item, exactly how dirty, etc., I'd either use Murphy's Oil Soap (for really grungy stuff) or Favor furniture cleaner. That's what usually works for me, anyway.

Mineral spirits doesn't dissolve finishes, just accumulated hand grime, wax build up and the like.

Murphy's oil soap leaves an oily residue that attracts more grime :(

wow, had no idea! everything I read indicated it was used for cleaning paint from brushes. lol! Glad I posted and you guys clarified -- I need mineral spirits! :)

Murphy's oil soap is not necessarily a friend!

It only works on wet paint....if your brushes dry, you are out of luck cleaning them with mineral spirits!
