Cutting Assistance

last modified: 9 years ago

Greetings all,

I'm in the process of rooting my first cutting of a Plumeria from Florida. I live in Menlo Park, CA with a climate zone of 9b. Our backyard patio is south-facing and gets scorching amounts of sun. I followed the general rule of planting the dried cutting with rooting gel in a well-draining clay pot and it seems to have stuck, as I see little red leaflets growing from the tip! Hooray!

If memory serves, I need to slightly increase the watering, but I'll read up prior to doing anything.

All that said, I've noticed the base of the cutting seems to be turning brown, as shown here:

The area is still very firm, so it doesn't appear to be rotting, but is this something I should be concerned about?

Thanks much,

MB
