Disappointments or Successes

This is thread is pretty self explanatory... so what disappointments or surprisingly good successes have you had?

Have had a few disappointments this season.

Biggest disappointment is I believe my Amorphophallus konjac corms are dead. Grow them every year and my biggest corm was the size of a softball while the other two were golf ball sized. They should have sprout last month but still no sign of them. Haven't bothered to dig them up to check since 1) the alyssum & petunias are already grown out in the same pot, and 2) if the corms have rotted there is nothing to be gained by digging them up.

Bit disappointed with the zinnia and cypress vine I planted in my other large pot. In past years the cypress vine would have already started to envelope my balcony railing. Instead they're only about 6-8" tall. The zinnia I planted are flowering nicely but are supposed to get around 18" tall. Currently they are only approx 7" tall.

Surprised the Martha Washington geranium is doing so well currently. Have often heard they do not take heat well at all. Got the plant for $1 so didn't see that I had much to lose. Suspect the fact that we haven't had a lot of obnoxiously hot humid days yet has been a factor.
