It's an orchid. I'd say it looks like an Oncidium to me. Their roots often go up into the air.

That looks like a nice healthy division. Your culture sounds good for oncidium type genera. Your plant should bloom when it matures a new growth. Good luck with it! You'll have to post a photo when it blooms.

So, should I just leave it alone in terms of root exposure? It actually did push itself up out of the bark twice. It seems to have wiry looking roots underground for latching on and white roots above ground for ?feeding/drinking?

Is keeping it on the porch with soft direct morning sun and high lumen indirect sun the rest of the day OK? Water weekly, feed at 1/2 strength every other week? Any other considerations? Is it OK in a hanging planter or better suited for a pot.
