Is painting or staining the brick an option? I quite like the curved feature.

I like it! Very handsome. Maybe a natural mantel and different fire door would help. Too much decor there now.

The fireplace is cool. It's quite busy with too much decor. Paint the brass doors black. Remove everything else. Put one cushion on hearth to the right. Hang ONe good size piece of art above the shelf. Paint the mantle your wall color or replace it with a simple boxy mantle-dark- and lean a mirror up there. Put the plant that was on your shelf on the left side of the mirror. Looks great.

Could you get a view from farther back?

This fireplace is awesome. It just needs fewer and bigger things.

Thank you all! If we keep the brick, we will definitely replace the mantle and it will be dark wood (reclaimed maybe). I just love the stacked stone look, but it would be huge undertaking. I'll try to clean up the clutter first and go with the great advice I got here!

some white birch stacked in the firebox on the right would be nice.
