Timing the application of a bloom booster fertilizer

My flowers- begonias, petunias, lantana and a few zinnias are looking tired. I know this is typical for this time of year and heat but had wondered if a topical spray of bloom booster such as miracle grow would be helpful at this point. I noticed we have the possibility of cooler temps coming up (cooler being all relative in Oklahoma!) and was wondering about timing the application beforehand? Or is it so hot that I will just burn them?

Any other suggestions?

And just FYI- I normally don't apply chemicals much, and hardly ever to my edibles. This would only be applied to my flowers. :)
