visitor this morning

I had a little visitor on my Kieffer Lime this morning. The light green leaves are not deficient, just new growth ;)

It is cool here in the morning. The feel for summer is getting hazy. I don't know but have the strong feeling that fall is coming early this year.

Visitors like this are truly great. Susanne, great pic. And Vladimir that is what I would have done - very likely.

In 2015 after a big spring storm an eastern green frog showed up in our yard. I managed to "rescue" it and put it in my pond. It was less than an inch and it happily lived in the pond for the summer and grew quite big. Next spring there was no sign of the frog - sadly. Here is a pic of the frog mid summer sometime.

Two days after I found this frog, I found another one slightly smaller and probably a different type. So I thought I should put that one in my pond too. What a surprise when the bigger one just pounced on it and chased it out of the pond. Here is the face-off event.

That is just awesome. I wish I could have a pond like that. Maybe one day :)

Tropic - that is a nice nature story. Do you have any critters in the pond?

Susanne: It is a small pond I built and everyone loves it. The sound of a tiny waterfall is very soothing. Plus it attracts all the birds and the occasional cat tying to chase the birds. After having it around for years now I feel a garden really needs a pond however small it is. Now every time after a thunderstorm I still hope a frog will show up.

Vladimir: There are lots of tiny snails that probably came with the plants I put in there. I had no plans to have a fish. But one day after coming back from camping I found 4 tiny fish in there. I was forming all kinds of theories how they showed up there - some them quite far-fetched. A few days later our very nice neighbour told us they put in there. 3 died within couple of weeks or so. This spring I could not find the 4th survivor and started to clean the pond. As I was draining the pond I found it in the middle of the bottom layer of muck - probably still sort of hibernating. I put it in the temporary tub with the lilies. Returned all of them back to the cleaned pond a week later. It is about 8 inches long yellowish fish - I have no idea what kind it is and never tried to find out what it is. I do not feed it myself but it lives on fine.
