Do the Earth Star Bromeliad just open blooms for a day?

I guess I was watching this earth star a little closer in the last few weeks, and I've noticed that when there's a cluster of buds, a bloom opens, but it's faded by the next day.
Just curious!
I know a day-lily bloom only opens for a day :(
