I have thirty plus trellisses. Twenty are fan trellises that I made myself. Then I have various other trellises that serves as a garden art pieces as well. I am always on the lookout for materials/contraptions that can function or be transformed into trellisses. Craigslist is where I find these. Also in garage sales & flea markets.

Oh thanks for sharing ! 30 plus is great , that's awesome you make them yourself too . I keep my eye out on Craigslist and at flea markets too . I have run out of fence space in my actual garden bed so I need more trellis unless I want to just plant on the fence outside of the garden .

I wish you two would show me pictures of your yards with all the trellisses/Obelisks!

Right now I only have 3 Obelisks, and one trellis. I had plans on putting the Mandevilla Vine on the trellis but it's not performing like I thought it would. That was the vine I was really looking forward to this summer. :(

Oakley , I had trouble with mandevilla too ! They look better in the nursery , once they get in my car it's a rapid downhill spiral from there .

This is in Spring when things looked fresh . My favorite trellis is the gold one in the middle . My dh bought it for me for Christmas. It is covered by that rose now . That's just a few I have . Others have just roses on them . :) hope other folks chime in and photos are encouraging!

Your yard (and view!) is simply stunning! Although we have the space, I can't grow as many flowers & Clematis as I want because of all the Oak trees DH planted when we built our home. Who knew they'd grow so BIG? lol

I'm curious, how is your purple Salvia doing now? I planted 5 and they aren't putting on the show I thought they would. In fact, many of my flowers aren't either.

And Rose's...ALL of mine now have Rose Rosette disease, (witches broom) so it's only a matter of time before they're gone.

Oakley that is horrible horrible horrible that all your roses got rrd !! Oh my gosh I would be heartbroken. My salvias actually look horrible ! Haha they are trying to rebloom but don't look nearly as nice as in Spring, I bought them all for 1$ a piece at lowes so I'm not mad but I will probably look for other perennials to plant near by . The bees love them so I let them slide.

Please do share photos ! I'd love to see all you have going on. Our gardens are such an extension of who we are !

Sorry it took so long to get back here, I have the little grands with me today.

I'm in OK., in the middle of wheat country, all flat land, not as pretty as your area. We do have a creek just east of us that's pretty. lol. We're on 2 acres, and DS built a house behind us on the other acre. No other neighbors.

We have a greenhouse which has Lavender on one side, which is now in full bloom, & the other side is full of Zinnia's, Gaillardia's (sp), Black-eye'd Susan, Cosmos, and some Lilies.

Since the remodel, we have a lot of yard, but not a front yard, so I had two nice areas to grow flowers and some have stopped blooming because of the heat or something.

I hope you don't mind, but when I took the pictures I didn't bother picking up the hose, etc. My handy broom in the picture is used every morning when I tend the garden due to spider webs. :)

To the right of this picture is a row of Roses, which all have The Plague now. They had a nice flush though.

I'm waiting until next spring to replace the rug. My son's driveway is to the right of the picture.

My favorite plant, a "Surprise Plant" that I got at Walmart. It went nuts!

Most of these trellisses are repurposed from stuff I collect at yard sales, craigslist, fleamarkets and some from plain junk. Heard the saying " One man's trash is another man's treasure". Enjoy! If anyone gets motivated, the pictures posted served the purpose.

Oakley- I love your yard and garden !! Your Vinca pots sure did take off and your mystery plant is lovely too , I haven't seen that before either. What do you keep in the greenhouse? I bet the lavender smells amazing. Did you do anything for the soil there ? Not sure what kind you have but I have been afraid to grow lavender in my clay. What a dream ! Especially in winter . Someday...

Aluva - your trellis are amazing ! You have a very artistic eye to take one thing and make it another! I especially like the one made of wheels . Very neat ! I also keep an eye out for things to repurpose but certainly have not been that creative . My only real repurposing was this ladder and bird feeder combo I love. It has been swallowed whole by a honeysuckle I let get away from me .

Maybe the honeysuckle needs to go but I have a small troop of hummingbirds and I hate to take away it's food. Even though I have two more honeysuckle.

Wow...all the photos look amazing with views that are out of this world! I live in the city and has a very tiny backyard. We have a stone patio so we have only about 5x40 ft of garden space. After seeing your gardens...hmm...now I feel so depressed when I look at my backyard. :)

Starlight, think of your garden as an intimate pocket of beauty and add and delete plants until it becomes one. I have gone through cycles of various sized gardens. Next month we will move and I will be back to gardening on my deck and/or community garden plot. I am looking forward to the challenges of making my own pocket of beauty.

I have at least eleven flat 6-7 ft trellises and 5 various sized obolisks, some homemade trellis, large areas of fencing across my 25 foot long deck and behind the garage and at the back of the lot as well as use of my neighbors' chain link fences. Am also growing some clematis through trees. It may be overwhelming to some but not for me. Wish I had more.

Yes, most have multiple vines. Some of the very large clematis have their separate trellis.

Starlight , please don't feel depressed about a smaller lot ! There are plussss and minus to every garden situation. I would love to see photos of your garden if you care to share!

Mnswgal I love your term " pocket of beauty "! Good luck with your move next month . I'm sure it's a little stressful but I really hope you enjoy your new "pocket " .

Lily, I don't know why I said Surprise plant, they're Circus plants. Three plants potted together. I googled circus plants and they are Sunbeam Bidens, Waterfall Blue Lobelia, and Aztec Red Velvet Verbena.

The Lobelia bloomed for a month, the Verbena stopped blooming then started up again, now it's stopped. But the Sunbeam Bidens, let's just say I am buying more next summer!! I love them, and they spread like crazy! Right now they're about 2' x 2', full sun.

Here's what they looked like before I planted them.

If the lobelia hasn't burned up it may restart blooming with the cooler weather and, as annuals, they respond well to frequent fertilization.

I haven't seen any sign of them since the end of June. I wonder if the Bidens choked them out?
