I think too wet. When I am looking at the soil - it just doesn't show enough perlite for the wicking method. The pot is too wide for the plant and the plant is too deep in a soil.

I think if dviolet will get it out of this pot before the center dies - it will recover nicely.

I do not like Dandy Post that much - I think they do not let enough air to the roots.

I'd put down the greenest leaf you can find for insurance as well.

Took plant out of pot and the soil was WAY too wet. Felt like I had to do something quick! Repotted with more perlite.

May need to do this again the right way when not so rushed and feeling so desperate....yipes! That's how I felt.

And may repot again with only one strand of yarn instead of the two I'm using now.

I probably need to fix all my minis this weekend.

Do not be in a hurry. Fix only the ones with a problem. May be the rest of them are in a good shape.

Wicks are tricky - they sometimes dry, sometimes pull too much water... The standard violet can utilize more water... so an overly large pot with too much soil and way too much water wicked up ... is not good for a mini. The good part - you will eventually find the good middle point for your conditions.

Oh nooooo Heather Don't feel bad. Nothing to feel bad about. I just got to thinking that they did look small in the pots. Then coming across that photo of someone else's plants made me feel a little remorseful about my own. Please don't feel bad. I'm sorry if my remark put you or anyone off!

My first thoughts: Same plant...Really? Watching time lapse photography on this mini would have been fascinating.

(Plucking those tiny suckers in that location looks like fun. Yipes!)

I would just let it be... Sometimes the center will grow up nicely and sometimes - not. In this case restarting it from one of these suckers will produce a much better plant.
