What is the wooden ceiling panel all about? Any chance it is to reduce the echo of the concrete flooring? If so, has it been effective? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your question.

Reduction of noise wasn't the impetus for the wood ceiling, though that has been a benefit. The wood ceiling section was used to break up the look of the sheetrock ceiling and to define the space. This look & feel was also used in the living room.
