360 video of my hostas

I recently got a 360 degree video camera and, of course, trained it on my garden! Here is a link to a video of my hostas in all their glory: https://youtu.be/nxlPWk0R8iM

They are hummingbird magnets and (unfortunately) re-seed themselves everywhere! Still.. for a couple of weeks at the end of July they *are* the show in the garden!

Can anyone tell me what kind they are? We call them the "Hosta Nostra" because they are so insidious (but we still love them!)

I'm sorry people had trouble viewing the video. It's in YouTube so I figured it would be no problem (wrong!). It is very high def and therefore would take a long time to load. I can scroll around within it with my mouse and it works with a VR headset too.

Anyway.... yes, newhostalady and manyhosta, I think they *are* h. ventricosa. Little devils can set seed even without being pollinated. That explains a lot!

My backyard (and the whole neighborhood) is ledge. There were a couple of these hostas and a few other types when I bought the house 13 years ago. Three years ago I decided to dig up all the little volunteers in the grass and plant them around the large outcropping of ledge. It works very well. I can mow right up against them and they make a nice edging in the darkest part of the yard. And they grow in nothing at all! Here are some photos:

This is the main area. Maybe 50 feet or so. It is very dark and wet here. Water actually spurts out of the rock during a heavy rain.

Never did manage to get a good photo of a hummer but the bees aren't spooked as easily!

Yup. These two are literally growing ON the rock! No crack or crevice, just a tiny bit of dirt on the surface!

Sorry, but I am having trouble seeing your video. I can see you have a huge bed of hosta. I am wondering if they are ventricosa?

Interesting! I used my iPad to see your garden. I had to physically turn my iPad to pan the area. The video is not clear enough for me to make a guess.

Manyhosta- What device are you using to see the video? I have Android and it took too long for me to wait to view.

I just saw waving in the breeze green hostas. In order to ID them, we need a close up of the plant, a leaf, using a familiar object to determine size. There are flowering now, how about a close up of the flower too. How long have you had them and where did you get them. So many questions. Otherwise the garden looks delightful!

hummers are highly attracted to the fragrant ones ... plantaginea is at the top of that list ...

i have a hard time calling all seedlings by one cultivar name ... in the pic immediately above.. i see a number of variations on that theme .... so they arent all exact duplicates of any given hosta .. ergo.. they cant all have the same name ...

as long as you dont plan on selling them under any given name ... you have my permission to call them anything you want ...lol ... including nostra if you want ...
